PRESENTATION - <br /> ErPLORUE POST Officer Dan Jackson, Post Advisor for the <br /> Louisville Blorers, detailed a recent trip by <br /> the Post to Seattle for a national competition <br /> where they placed in three of the four events. <br /> They took first place in witness interview wherein <br /> 94 teams competed. The Post requested that <br /> Council consider funds for a trophy vase to <br /> exhibit these and other trophies they have been <br /> awarded. Mayor Pausal oommeaded the Post and said <br /> that the request will be considered during budget <br /> deliberations later this year. <br /> REQUEST POI STRZIT CLOSUR2 - <br /> L& OR DAY CEI.EBIlATIOII A letter was submitted by the tall Festival <br /> Committee requesting street closures and use of <br /> Memory Square Park and City Mall for the various <br /> uses listed in the letter. <br /> Staff recommended Council approve the requests and <br /> Anderson so moved. Scarpella seconded. <br /> Unanimous. <br /> APPOINTMENTS TO COIMIUNITY DNVELOPMIiiT 'LOCK <br /> GRANT COMMITTEE Burdley explained that Louisville and Lafayette <br /> have been notified by the State Department of <br /> Local Affairs that they have been jointly awarded <br /> a $400,000 grant from the Community Development <br /> Block Grant program. The grant is for the purpose <br /> of providing below market interest loans for <br /> improvements to the respective downtowns. As per <br /> the grant application this program is to be <br /> administered by a joint committee appointed by the <br /> Louisville a Lafayette City Council. Bach Council <br /> will have three appointments. The original <br /> committee members from Louisville were Clair <br /> Beckmann of the First Rational Bank, John Milken <br /> from the Chamber of Commerce and Rich Manush. <br /> Director of Community Development. The Council <br /> may either reaffirm these members or appoint new <br /> members. <br /> Council commended all three members for their a <br /> commitment of time, their efforts and ultimate <br /> success. <br /> Szymanski moved that these three members be <br /> reaffirmed. Mayor Pausal seconded.
