<br />Horticultural & Forestry Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />November 3, 2005 <br /> <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />Per Theresa, a Master Gardener volunteer currently working at the <br />County Extension Office will be researching grant opportunities for the <br />Arboretum. <br />Re the Starburst Award, Chris reported he had not heard from Dave <br />Clabots about the status. <br />Re the Scott Foundation, Theresa is still pursuing grant opportunities. <br /> <br />For general arboretum maintenance (weeding and trash pickup) and <br />other projects, Theresa suggested contacting the Sheriff's Dept. about <br />availability of inmate work crews. <br /> <br />VII. Community Park Update <br />Chris reported that two more fir trees may have to be replaced. In <br />general, irrigation and tree and sod conditions have improved. <br /> <br />VIII. Development of HFAB web page <br />Chris reported that Land Management is discussing hiring a consultant <br />to redo the web page. Theresa suggested a college student could be <br />hired to design the HFAB web page as part of a course requirement. <br />Chris will contact a student project coordinator at Metro State College, <br />and also check with Scott re the department's plans. Mike stated that <br />his wife Nancy, a professor at Metro, may also be able to suggest <br />contacts at the school. <br /> <br />IX. Horticultural and Forestry Advisory Board Award <br />No report. <br /> <br />X. City Council Update <br />Theresa will call Julie regarding scheduling time at a Council meeting <br />for an annual update on HFAB activities. <br /> <br />XI. Arboretum Tree I.D. and Xeric Demonstration Garden Plant I.D. <br />Brochure <br />No report. <br /> <br />XII. The meeting was adjourned at 7:54 pm. Please note there will <br />be no meeting in September. The next regular meeting is <br />scheduled for Thursday, October 5 at 6:30 pm. <br />
