PUBLICCOMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA:None.
VI. FOLLOW UP DISCUSSIONOF TOPICS FROM JUNE 16, 2010 MEETING:
Green Homes Tour, September 26, 2010–Andy said the Center for Resource conservation sponsors
the tour and that he also sees LSAB, partnering with Transition Louisville, as a long-term sponsor, with
members acting as volunteers. He would like to get the tour onthe City website calendar with links.
Andy noted that the Denver and Boulder tours are two of the largest and most well-supported tours in
the nation. The Center for Resource Conservation is tryingto create pockets within the Boulder county.
So, participation in the program has varied, with Boulder and Louisville having a number of homes,
Lafayette having one and Longmont having none. The Louisville homes have all been selected. This
year, Louisville will have a couple of brand new homes, a couple of remodels, and one energy retro-fit.
Homes were chosen that were within the scope of the general demographics of Louisville. There are a
number of options for volunteering: host, guide, etc. Each volunteer job takes about three hours.
Volunteers have access to the entire tour. Each Volunteer will receive a name tag and an article that
describes about the home. The article will provide the volunteer hosts and guides with information about
the home that can be shared with visitors. The tour costs $10 and all proceeds go to the Center for
Resource Conservation. LSAB voted unanimously to be an in-kind sponsorof the Green Homes
Tourwith members providing volunteer help, but no financial contributions.
Green Building Program Application–Andy said that he believes that Louisville a really good chance
of getting the GEO (Governor’s Energy Grant) for which the City recently applied.SWEEPreceived
DOEmoney to provide technical assistance. The City can alsoapply forSWEEP fundsif/when the City
gets theGEOgrant. Twogroups have started up with SWEEP:residential and commercial. Peoplein
head building positions in communities have been participating. Progress has been made around
adopting a nationally recognized, standardized residential green building program that willsave
communities from having to come up with their own. Andy drafted a letter answering questions from the
GEO. The focus of the main portion of the requested money was to go toward education and public
awareness with the suggestion of hiring a marketing firm to help with the process. The GEO is expected
to award the recipientsof the grant any day. The deadline to fulfill the GEO grant is mid-June, 2011.
There are no GEO grants coming up within the next month for which Andywould encourage other
departments within the City to apply. Andysuggested that some of the GEO programs might be of
interest to our visitor, Mr. Peter Sharp.
Current Year EnergyEfficient Lighting GrantOptions–Mark Persichetti spoke with Ann Livingstonat
Boulder County.Ann said that the County isplanning on making $10,000total available for county
efficient lighting programs. In another week or two,the program will be finalized. Mark will keep
contactingAnn to find out criteria. He will make a point to mention that we are looking at general lighting
(rather than holiday lighting). A possible commercial program was discussed. Andy said it would take
the entire $10,000 for a commercial lighting program.PeterSharpsaid there are a lot of companies
doing commercial and that the city, the county, and the utilitiesare all offering rebates.
