Comprehensive Plan
2 0 0 5 U P D A T E
Draft Vision Statement and
Draft Planning Principles
September 16, 2004
Please use this document to record any comments you'd like to offer on
the draft vision and planning principles. Please leave this form with us
before leaving or mail us your comments to:
City of Louisville
749 Main Street
Louisville, CO 80027
Attn. Paul Wood
Thank you!
Draft Vision
Louisville is a family- oriented community that blends a small town
atmosphere with a progressive outlook. Its historic downtown, livable
neighborhoods, quality parks and recreational facilities, vibrant
commercial districts, and 1700 -acre comprehensive system of open lands
and trails set Louisville apart from cities in the northwest Denver region.
Louisville will maintain a balanced, sustainable economic position in the
region, providing diverse investment opportunities for new and existing
businesses and diverse housing opportunities for residents. Louisville will
have a multi -modal transportation system that is integrated with existing
and future land use to support a range of safe and efficient ways to travel.
The City of Louisville will strive to provide public facilities as a means to
create a stronger community identity and encourage active community
participation.
Louisville will continue to be a community with a rich heritage that values
education, celebrates cultural diversity, and respects the natural
environment. Residents will have opportunities to be well- informed and
involved in the future of their community.
The City's comprehensive plan will embody the values of its residents and
will provide a proactive direction for change as it inevitably occurs. As a
small -town in a rapidly- urbanizing, increasingly- interdependent region, the
effective and efficient cooperative use of limited resources (whether
financial, societal, or natural) and proactive collaboration with local,
county, and regional governments will enable Louisville to achieve this
vision.
