1 RESOLUTION NO. 40, SERIES 2010 <br />2 <br />3 A JOINT RESOLUTION OF <br />4 THE BROOMFIELD CITY COUNCIL <br />5 AND THE <br />6 LOUISVILLE CITY COUNCIL <br />7 CONCERNING TRANSPORTATION MATTERS <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 WHEREAS, the City and County of Broomfield (Broomfield) and the City of Louisville <br />11 (Louisville) desire to address transportation matters of mutual interest; and <br />12 <br />13 WHEREAS, Broomfield and Louisville acknowledge that the Northwest Parkway Public <br />14 Highway Authority was formed with the objective that the Northwest Parkway be constructed <br />15 from I -25 on the north and east to State Highway 128 on the south and west; and <br />16 <br />17 WHEREAS, Broomfield and Louisville acknowledge that the Jefferson Parkway Public <br />18 Highway Authority intends to construct a limited access tollway from State Highway 128 on the <br />19 north and east to State Highway 93 at approximately West 64th Avenue on the south and west; <br />20 and <br />21 <br />22 WHEREAS, Broomfield and Louisville concur that the intent of the communities is to <br />23 collaborate and work toward an area transportation system that supports the goals of each <br />24 community; and <br />25 <br />26 WHEREAS, this Joint Resolution has been prepared in anticipation of a more formal <br />27 intergovernmental agreement between Broomfield and Louisville regarding the transportation <br />28 matters covered herein; <br />29 <br />30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />31 AND COUNTY OF BROOMFIELD, COLORADO AND BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />32 CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />33 <br />34 1. That Broomfield and Louisville will work cooperatively and use their best efforts to ensure <br />35 that: <br />36 <br />37 (a) The extension of the Northwest Parkway to State Highway 128 is done in a manner that <br />38 provides positive transportation system benefits to both Broomfield and Louisville. <br />39 <br />40 (b) Mitigation is provided for any negative traffic impacts that may be created in the U.S. <br />41 Highway 36 area in Broomfield and/or in Louisville by additional traffic directly <br />42 attributable to the Jefferson Parkway's connection to the Northwest Parkway. <br />43 <br />44 (c) Additional right -of -way is provided on the Storage Tek Drive alignment for the extension <br />45 of the Northwest Parkway to State Highway 128, if necessary and as mutually agreed. <br />46 <br />
