RESOLUTION NO. 58 <br />SERIES 1999 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION LEVYING GENERAL PROPERTY TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1999, <br />TO HELP DEFRAY THE COSTS OF GOVERNMENT FOR THE CITY OF <br />LOUISVILLE, COLORADO FOR THE 2000 BUDGET YEAR. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Louisville has adopted the annual budget for <br />the 2000 budget year in accordance with the Local Government Budget Law, on December 7, <br />1999; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the amount of money necessary to balance the budget for general operating <br />purposes from property tax revenue is $1,348,104; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the amount of money necessary to balance the budget for general operating <br />purposes from property taxes abated and refunded is $11,583; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Louisville finds that it is required to temporarily lower the <br />general operating mill levy to render a refund for $170,141; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1999 valuation for assessment for the City of Louisville as certified by <br />the County Assessor is $292,871,280; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the various property tax revenue limitations imposed on the City including <br />the limitations of the Amendment ("Amendment One") adding Article X, Section 20 to the <br />Colorado Constitution, approved by the voters on November 3, 1992, have been calculated using <br />the information currently available to the City and a tax of 5.224 mills with a temporary mill levy <br />reduction of 0.581 mills complies with said limitations. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That for the purpose of meeting all general operating expenses of the City of <br />Louisville during the 2000 budget year, there is hereby levied a tax of 5.224 mills upon each <br />dollar of the total valuation for assessment of all taxable property within the City for the year <br />1999. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That for the purpose of rendering a refund to its constituents during budget year <br />2000, there is hereby approved a temporary mill levy reduction of 0.581 mills, resulting in a net <br />mill levy of 4.643 mills for the year 1999. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to immediately certify to the <br />County Commissioners of Boulder County, Colorado, the mill levy, and temporary mill levy <br /> <br /> <br />
