COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />MALCOLM FLEMING <br />CITY MANAGER <br />DATE: JANUARY 18, 2010 <br />SUBJECT: SALES TAX REPORT FOR THE MONTH ENDED NOVEMBER 30, 2010 <br />ORIGINATING <br />DEPARTMENT: CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE <br />SUMMARY: <br />Attached are the revenue reports for sales tax, lodging tax, auto use tax and building <br />use tax for the month ending November 30, 2010. <br />City sales tax revenue for the month of November ended down 5.8% to November 2009 <br />and down 2.7% to 2009 revenues YTD. Sales tax revenue is currently 7.7% above budget <br />estimates YTD. <br />The top 50 vendors ended the month of November up 3.67% compared to November <br />2009 and are currently 5.77% above 2009 revenues YTD. <br />YTD increases continue in all categories for November 2010 including General <br />Merchandise (4.77 %), Grocery (8.95 %), Home Improvement (2.49 %), Hotels (6.81 %), <br />Restaurants (5.48 %), and Telecom /Utilities (5.83 %). <br />Lodging tax revenue for November 2010 was up 2% compared to November 2009 and is <br />currently 2.1% above 2009 revenue YTD. Lodging tax is 6% above budget estimates <br />YTD. <br />Auto use tax for November 2010 increased 26.7% from November 2009 and is 4% above <br />2009 YTD and 16.8% above budget estimates YTD. <br />Building use tax revenue YTD for 2010 is currently 23.6% above 2009 revenue and 26.8% <br />above budget estimates. <br />L LI SUBJECT NOVEMBER 2010 SALES TAX REPORT AGENDA ITEM <br />0 <br />
