Board discussed <br />striking the all -electric requirements since the equipment is either still not <br />available or is too far out to order. Suggested having gas appliances as an <br />option and specifying that the gas appliance would need to be at least <br />92% efficient. <br />i. Exceptions would be fossil fuel for MAU systems or supplementary heat <br />systems. <br />j. Commercial gas: electric resistance and storage is currently not allowed. <br />Board would like to change to allow more options. <br />The Board would like to make clear that they approved these changes with the <br />intent that they are "replacing code in lieu of", not just "adding on" to <br />existing code, otherwise there would have been more comments <br />Here are the two energy documents requested by the Board to be included with <br />the minutes: <br />ORDINANCE NO. , SERIES 2024 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15.18.030 OF THE LOUISVILLE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE <br />2021 INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted from time -to -time certain building and <br />construction standards; and <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the interest of the public health, safety and <br />general welfare to adopt by reference thereto the 2021 edition of the International Energy <br />Conservation Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville remains committed to its adopted goals to <br />reduce energy consumption, increase clean energy sources, and support the transition to a <br />low -carbon community as outlined in the Sustainability Action Plan and Resolution 25, <br />Series 2019, "A Resolution Setting Clean Energy and Carbon Reduction Goals"; and <br />WHEREAS, reducing building energy consumption is an effective strategy to <br />reduce community -wide energy consumption and increase long-term cost savings for <br />businesses; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is committed to environmental, economic and <br />social sustainability, ensuring the International Energy Conservation Code is attainable <br />for current and future business owners and tenants, supporting affordable housing and <br />local businesses development. <br />
