<br />RESOLUTION #10, SERIES 1989 <br />LOUISVILLE ARTS AND HUMANITIES COUNCIL <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the people of the State of Colorado have appropriated a cultural <br />sales tax of .1% to benefit non-profit cultural organizations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, THE LOUISVILLE CITY COUNCIL believes that the advancement and <br />preservation of art, music, theater, dance, zoology, botany and <br />natural history is important in the City of Louisville; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County Commissioners of Boulder County have created the <br />Boulder County citizens Cultural Advisory Council to determine the <br />distribution of the revenue generated by the .1% cultural sales tax; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville has many individual artists and performers <br />who may benefit from these funds through a non-profit cultural <br />organization. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that We, The Louisville City Council, do <br />hereby create the Louisville Arts and Humanities Council, a non-profit <br />organization, for the primary purpose of advancing and preserving art, <br />music, theater, dance, zoology, botany and natural history in the City <br />of Louisville. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Louisville Arts and Humanities Council <br />will consist of five members appointed by the Mayor of the City of <br />Louisville. Residents of the City of Louisville may apply to serve on <br />this Council in writing to the City Clerk, 749 Main, Louisville CO <br />80027. Each member will be appointed to a three-year term. The <br />Chairman of the Louisville Arts and Humanities Council will serve on <br />the Boulder County citizens Cultural Advisory Council as Louisville's <br />representative and will advise the Mayor and City Council as to the <br />Board's plan for distribution of cultural sales tax proceeds within <br />Boulder County.
