PROCLAMATION <br />AUTISM EDUCATION WEEK <br />January 31 — February 6, 2010 <br />WHEREAS, in 2008 the Colorado General Assembly created the Colorado Autism <br />Commission (CAC) tasked with identifying ways to improve the existing services <br />available to the Autism Spectrum Disorders community; and <br />WHEREAS, over the past decade the number of individuals diagnosed with Autism <br />Spectrum Disorders has risen dramatically one in 500 children to 1 in 100 children <br />in 2009; and <br />WHEREAS, the vision of the CAC is all Coloradoans affected by Autism Spectrum <br />Disorders have ready access to the services and supports they need to be safe, <br />educated, healthy, productive and able to pursue happy and fulfilling lives ; and <br />WHEREAS, public education plays a critical in the role in the identification, <br />treatment, education, data collection, and training for community access and <br />community life of people with autism; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville recognizes the efforts of the CAC for its <br />commitment to improving the lives of those diagnosed with autism; <br />NOW THEREFORE, I Charles Sisk, Mayor of the City of Louisville, Colorado, do <br />hereby proclaim the week of Jan. 31— Feb. 6, 2010, as AUTISM EDUCATION <br />WEEK. <br />P.
