Spring gives us the
opportunity to have our doors and windows open, see our neighbors outside,
barbeque, take walks, watch children playing outside, and in general to enjoy the
outside as it comes alive with the sounds and squeals of joy.
As part of our summers, we, in Louisville, grew accustomed to the Fourth of
July fireworks to celebrate of our nation's birthday. In 2010, we experienced the
unexpected closure of Sam's Club and the corresponding loss of sales tax reve-
nues. The decision was made to cancel the July 4th celebration for one year. From
talking to many of our citizens, young, middle, and older, I know how much we,
as a community, missed OUR celebration.
With that in mind and because of your willingness to pass a Use Tax, the July
4th fireworks are back!! The planning is well underway for an event for your enjoy-
ment and a chance to celebrate with family, friends, and neighbors.
Sometimes we take community events for granted, and the absence of the July
4th celebration last year left a significant hole for us in Louisville. I know many of
you understood the reasons for not having the celebration and were very support-
ive; however that doesn't mean we didn't miss it.
July 4th
The Fireworks are Back!!
Thank you Louisville voters! The
passage of the Use Tax allowed
us to bring back the fireworks. Join your
friends and neighbors at the Coal Creek
Golf Course for the 2011 July 4th fire-
works. Bring your picnic, sit on the driving
range, and enjoy the festivities.
*Festivities begin at 6.00 PM
*Music from the Boulder Concert Band
*For the kids: balloon animals, face painting, & jumpy castles
*Fireworks to launch at approximately 9:30 PM.
The golf course is located at 585 West Dillon Road. There is
NO parking at the golf course. Free shuttle bus service provided
from 6 - 11 PM from the Louisville Recreation Center and Home
Depot parking lots.
Continued on page 2
City of Louisville - www.LouisvilleCo.gov
