CONSTITUTION WEEK PROCLAMATION <br /> SEPTEMBER 17-23, 2012 <br /> WHEREAS, It is the privilege and duty of the American people to commemorate the <br /> two hundred twenty-fifth anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of <br /> the United States of America with appropriate ceremonies and activities, <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Every American shares in this legacy of liberty, and we are grateful for the <br /> courage, conviction, and sacrifice of all those who have helped preserve <br /> and uphold the principles of a free society. As we remember the enduring <br /> importance of the Constitution we also recognize our responsibility as <br /> citizens to respect and defend the values of our founding, and participate <br /> in the unfolding story of freedom, and <br /> WHEREAS, In celebration of the signing of the Constitution and in recognition of the <br /> Americans who strive to uphold the duties and responsibilities of <br /> citizenship, the Congress, by joint resolution of August 2, 1956 (36 <br /> U.S.C., 108, as amended), request the proclamation that the week of <br /> September 17th and ending September 23`1 of each year as"Constitution <br /> Week." <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I,Mayor Robert Muckle of the City of <br /> Louisville do hereby proclaim the week of September 17th through the 23"' as <br /> CONSTITUTION WEEK and urge all citizens to study the Constitution, and reflect on the <br /> privilege of being an American with all the rights and responsibilities which that privilege <br /> involves. <br /> DATED this 18th day of September 2012.
