CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO
MAYOR'S EXECUTIVE ORDER 02 -2013
Effective May 7, 2013
Rescinding Certain Mandatory Watering Restrictions and Requesting Users of the City of
Louisville Water System to Voluntarily Follow Watering Best Practices
Pursuant to the authority vested in the Mayor of the City of Louisville, Colorado and, in
particular, Section 13.08.060 of the Louisville Municipal Code, I, Robert P. Muckle, Mayor of
the City of Louisville, hereby issue this Executive Order rescinding certain mandatory watering
restrictions and requesting users of the City of Louisville water supply system to voluntarily
follow watering best practices.
Need and Purpose
Information indicates that the Colorado Front Range has received significant levels of
moisture during the month of April 2013 and as a consequence snow pack levels are higher than
previously projected and customer demands for water are lower. These improved conditions
increase the City's available water supply and make sufficient water available to supply to
customers in the near term to allow normal irrigation practices. This Executive Order is intended
to conserve water by maintaining restrictions on mid -day watering and requesting voluntary
outdoor watering best practices. This Executive Order will encourage reduced outdoor water use
and assist the City in reserving adequate water for the coming months.
Order
Pursuant to Louisville Municipal Code Section 13.08.060, all users of the City of
Louisville water supply system are hereby subject to the following conditions, effective at
MIDNIGHT on May 7, 2013:
1. Responsible Party. As used in this chapter, "customer" means the owner or occupant of
the licensed premises.
2. Rescinding Mandatory Irrigation Watering Restrictions. All mandatory watering
restrictions imposed by previous Executive Order dated April 2, 2013, are hereby
rescinded by this Executive Order except as noted in item 3 below.
3. Continuing Mandatory Restrictions. All customers shall conduct all watering without
any water waste, as defined in Louisville Municipal Code Section 13.08.120.
Additionally, watering is prohibited between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.,
except when limited watering is essential to preserve turf subject to heavy public use.
1
