SPRING 2002 CITY OF LOUISVILLE COMMUNITY UPDATE CITY COUNCIL 2002 BUDGET GOALS AND ACTIVITIES T ast summer, the City Council, as a basis for the 2002 budget, established Mayor Tom Davidson certain goals for Louisville that will impact our community 303-666-8573 this year and beyond. Some highlights are as follows: davidst @ci.louisville.co.us • Needs Assessment and Cost Estimate for the Library and Recreation Senior Center Expansion- Mayor Pro-Tem Chuck Sisk Y / P 303-665-6889 The City is studying the feasibility for a November bond charlesisk @aol.com issue for the expansion of the Library and the 1144a Recreation/Senior Center. To that end, the City has hired Don Brown the firms of Humphries Poli Architects and Sink Combs Dethlefs to 303-673-0648 perform space and service analyses of the Library and Recreation/Senior brownd @ci.louisvillle.co.us Center respectively. Each firm will evaluate both current uses of the facilities as well as future expansion possibilities. Residents will have the John Keany chance to give public comments on what they would like to see in the 303-665-4818 facilities during the process. Tom Mayer • Local Collection of City Sales Tax-With the passage of the Home 303-665-5415 Rule Charter in November 2001,the City now has the ability to collect its mayert @ci.louisville.co.us own sales tax. For this purpose, staff is now working on a new ordinance that will outline the procedure for the payment of local sales tax collected Michele Van Pelt begining July 1. In addition, a new Sales Tax Coordinator, Penney Bolte, 303-673-9235 has been hired.
