DISAPPROVED Q2/19/08 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2 <br />SERIES 2008 <br />A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />AND DEVELOPMENT TASK FORCE TO PROVIDE ADVISORY <br />RECOMMENDATIONS WITH RESPECT TO THE DEVELOPMENT <br />REVIEW PROCESS AS IT PERTAINS TO PROPERTIES WITH <br />HISTORIC VALUE <br />WHEREAS, there are sometimes unavoidable conflicts between our <br />interest in preserving and maintaining valuable historic properties in <br />Louisville, our interest in improving and expanding the usefulness of <br />existing buildings in our City and our interest in developing new <br />facilities to better serve the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the current way we approach these conflicts sometimes <br />aggravates the conflict instead of helping to facilitate productive <br />discussions and reasonable resolutions; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Charter Section 10-2(f), the City Council <br />desires to establish a Historic Preservation and Development Task <br />Force to provide advisory recommendations to minimize and more <br />productively resolve these conflicts. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />1. There is hereby created an Historic Preservation and Development <br />Task Force. <br />2. The goals of this Task Force shall be to: <br />a. Explore what other communities have done to help minimize <br />and resolve the conflicts between the community's interest in <br />preserving and maintaining valuable historic properties, <br />improving and expanding the usefulness of existing buildings, <br />and developing new facilities to better serve the community; <br />b. Evaluate the City of Louisville's current development review <br />process and identify ways to efficiently and effectively <br />minimize these conflicts; and <br />c. Provide advisory recommendations containing specific ways <br />that the City of Louisville can improve its development review <br />process so all parties' interests are better served and conflicts <br />involving historic preservation, renovation and new <br />development are minimized and efficiently and effectively <br />resolved. <br />
