ORDINANCE NO. 1532 <br />SERIES 2008 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 8.16.040, 8.20.010, AND 10.20.030 OF THE <br />LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE REGULATION AND <br />ABATEMENT OF ABANDONED OR INOPERABLE VEHICLES AND DETACHED <br />TRAILERS; AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF TITLE 9 OF THE LOUISVILLE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE OFFENSES OF ASSAULT, <br />HARRASSMENT, THROWING THINGS, AND SHOPLIFTING; INCREASING THE <br />JURISDICTIONAL AMOUNT FOR CERTAIN PROPERTY OFFENSES, THEFT AND <br />FRAUD BY CHECK, AND AMENDING SECTION 10.04.020 CONCERNING <br />COMPULSORY INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to its home rule powers and state law, including but not limited to <br />C.R.S. § 31-15-401, the City has the power to declare what constitutes a nuisance and to provide <br />for the abatement of nuisances; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has previously adopted numerous provisions for the protection of <br />the public peace, welfare, and morals of the City and such provisions are codified in Title 9 of <br />the Louisville Municipal Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to clarify provisions regulating and providing for <br />the abatement of abandoned or inoperable vehicles and detached trailers; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend certain provisions of the Louisville <br />Municipal Code to clarify the offenses of assault and harassment, and to include within the <br />offense of harassment certain conduct that occurs via computer or other electronic means; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to clarify the prohibition against throwing things; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, City Council desires to increase the jurisdictional amount for theft, fraud by <br />check and certain property offenses in accordance with state jurisdictional amounts, and to <br />clarify shoplifting as an offense distinct from other certain offenses; and <br />WHEREAS, City Council desires to adopt an amendment to the City's version of the <br />Model Traffic Code relating to compulsory insurance requirements; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />Section 1. Subsection A of Section 8.16.040 of the Louisville Municipal Code is <br />hereby amended, and such Section is hereby further amended by the addition of a new <br />Subsection F, to read as follows (words to be deleted shown in °°*r~~; words to be added <br />underlined): <br />1 <br />
