Recreation/Senior Center & Aquatic Center Expansion

Task Force Sub-Committee
Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, May 25th, 2016
5:00 to 6:30 pm
Louisville Recreation/ Senior Center
900 West Via Appia

I. Call to Order
–The meeting was called to order by Gina Barton at 5:00 p.m.

Board Members Present: Gina Barton, Rich Bradfield, Tom Tennessen, Michele
VanPelt

Staff Members present: Joe Stevens, Kathy Martin, Julie Seydel

City Council Present: Councilman Lipton and Councilwoman Loo, Councilwoman
Stolzman

II. Review GreenPlay Draft Report

The chart on page 10 was discussed with concern about comparisons for
expenditures differing for other centers. The top Item section seems the most
relevant, but the expenditures section is misleading since each city differs in
what is computed into this number. Councilwoman Stolzman felt the
$1,860,695 revenue number seemed high as compared to the end of year
2014 revenues. It wasn’t clear what was included in that number.

Discussed if the percent of subside for each city would be a better indication
of recovery rather than the table of figures that may not be all inclusive and
added confusion. Council was asked what the City of Louisville philosophy
was, and that the report should reflect the percent of cost recovery that was
expected. This is harder to determine with a program based budget.

Final decision was to eliminate the Net Reported Subsidy line since it felt
misleading, since all expenses are not included.

The chart of demographics was removed since it created confusion.
Demographics many not be important for this document, since the cost
recover and O&M expense is what the reports mission is. Maybe add a
statement about repurposing opportunities based on trends in fitness and
demographic changes.

Councilwoman Stolzman asked what would fees need to be to eliminate O&M
or resident fees.

City of Louisville
Parks & Recreation 900 West Via Appia
Louisville CO 80027
303.335.4903 (phone) 303.335.4959 (fax) www.louisvilleco.gov
