RESOLUTION NO. 22 <br />SERIES 2017 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 2017 CULTURAL ARTS MASTER PLAN <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville is a home rule municipal corporation organized <br />under and pursuant to Article XX of the Colorado Constitution and the Louisville Home <br />Rule Charter; and <br />WHEREAS, by virtue of such authority, City Council adopted the 2013 <br />Comprehensive Plan on May 7, 2013 by Resolution 18, Series 2013; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2013 Comprehensive Plan identifies core community values that <br />contribute to a sense of community, livable small town feel, a healthy, vibrant and <br />sustainable economy a connection to the City's heritage, and excellence in education and <br />lifetime learning; and <br />WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Plan finds that the promotion of arts and culture <br />strengthens the quality of life and small town character of Louisville and classifies "Civic <br />Events" and "Arts and Culture" as community services that support these values, and <br />WHEREAS, Pnnciple CS -6 of the Comprehensive Plan asks for the development of <br />a Cultural Arts Master Plan aimed at "integrating the arts, culture and humanities with <br />urban design, economic development, education and other community development <br />initiatives", and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council and the Louisville Cultural Council formally initiated a <br />process to establish a Cultural Arts Master Plan, which included several public forums, <br />meetings, surveys, and hearings regarding the drafting and adoption of the Cultural Arts <br />Master Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, a duly noticed public meeting on April 18, 2017, the Louisville Cultural <br />Council recommended that the Cultural Arts Master Plan be approved as it represents the <br />City's arts and cultural vision and addresses several of the core community values of the <br />Comprehensive Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, City Council has reviewed the Cultural Arts Master Plan, including the <br />recommendation of the Louisville Cultural Council and finds that the Cultural Arts Master <br />Plan should be approved <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Louisville, <br />Colorado does hereby approve the 2017 Cultural Arts Master Plan <br />Resolution No 22, Series 2017 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
