RESOLUTION NO. 11 <br />SERIES 2021 <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE WORK OF AND DISCONTINUING THE <br />BUSINESS RETENTION AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br />WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 2007-07, the City Council organized the Business <br />Retention and Development Committee (`BRaD") as an advisory committee of the City Council, <br />the responsibilities and organization of which were amended and restated by Resolution Nos. <br />2009-18, 2011-50, 2013-52 and 2017-7; and <br />WHEREAS, the Economic Vitality Committee ("EVC"), a new City Council committee <br />formed by the Mayor to develop the City's Economic Vitality Strategic Plan, held its first meeting <br />on January 22, 2020; and <br />WHEREAS, the Economic Vitality Strategic Plan was adopted by the City Council on <br />November 10, 2020, and the EVC has continued to work on issues pertaining to economic vitality <br />and policy; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds there is an overlap in the goals and focus of BRaD and <br />the EVC; and <br />WHEREAS, the EVC has recommended the City Council discontinue BRaD, in order to <br />preserve City resources, while facilitating the important role of the business community in <br />providing input to the EVC on issues of economic vitality, particularly those that involve business <br />retention and development; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has considered this recommendation by the EVC, and <br />desires, with appreciation for and thanks to BRaD members for their service to the City and the <br />business community, to discontinue BRaD as set forth herein. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />Section 1. As of the effective date of this Resolution, Resolution No. 2017-07 is hereby <br />repealed and the Business Retention and Development Committee dissolved. <br />Section 2. The Economic Vitality Committee is encouraged to explore effective ways to <br />engage the local business community in pursuit of the EVC's goals and objectives, including but not <br />limited to providing an opportunity at each EVC meeting for members of the business committee to <br />provide comment and feedback and otherwise address the EVC on matters before the EVC. Nothing <br />in this Resolution shall alter the membership of the EVC or provide any person not a member of the <br />EVC with the right to participate in any vote or other action of the EVC. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16"' day of February, 2021. <br />Resolution No. 11, Series 2021 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
