II' ~DI City Council Study Session Summary January 13, 2009 Library Meeting Room 951 Spruce Street 7:00 PM The City Council of the City of Louisville met in a study session at 7:00 p.m. in Louisville Library 151 Floor Meeting Room, 951 Spruce Street, Louisville, Colorado. The following persons were present - City Council Present: Mayor Chuck Sisk Mayor Pro-Tem Sheri Marsella Dave Clabots Hank Dalton Ron Sackett Frost Yarnell City Council Absent: Bob Muckle Ron Sackett Staff Present: Malcolm Fleming, City Manager Heather Balser, Deputy City Manager Meredyth Muth, Public Relations Manager Rhonda Welborn, Executive Assistant Kevin Watson, Finance Director Tom Phare, Public Works Director David Szabados, Public Works Manager City Manager Items Discussion - Approach Improving Communication with Boards and Commissions Mr. Fleming, City Manager, discussed the merits of requesting Work Plans from Boards and Commissions. Work Plans would provide Boards and Commissions the opportunity to present their goals and projects to the Council during City Council Study Sessions. The Council would have the ability to provide more clear direction for the Boards and Commissions. Studies have shown that employees and members were more productive when given clear direction, used less staff time, and contributed more helpful and productive recommendations. Mr. Fleming solicited the Council's reactions to the approach.
