Lcityot <br />Louisville <br />Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and <br />Queer Pride Month Proclamation — June 2022 <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville recognizes and proclaims the month of June <br />2022 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month <br />throughout the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville observes Pride Month with a flag raising <br />ceremony to honor the history and ongoing work of the LGBTQ liberation <br />movement; and <br />WHEREAS, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community <br />members are important contributing members of the Louisville community; and <br />WHEREAS, the rainbow flag is widely recognized as a symbol of pride, inclusion, <br />and support for social movements that advocate for LGBTQ people in society; and <br />WHEREAS, this nation was founded on the principle that that all people have <br />the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness under the protection of the <br />law; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville is committed to supporting the rights of all <br />citizens to live and work openly and authentically and supports the visibility, <br />dignity and equality for LGBTQ people in our community; and <br />WHEREAS, celebrating Pride Month influences awareness and provides support <br />and advocacy for the LGBTQ community, and is an opportunity to take action and <br />engage in dialogue to strengthen alliances, build acceptance, and advance equal <br />human rights. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Louisville herby proclaims <br />the June 2022 as Pride Month in support of the LGBTQ community. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the rainbow Pride flag will be raised on June <br />1st recognizing all LGBTQ residents whose influential and lasting contributions <br />make Louisville a vibrant community in which to live, work and visit. The City of <br />Louisville celebrates and respects the enduring efforts and ongoing contributions <br />of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer communities, and <br />reaffirms the City's dedication to continue building a shared culture of <br />inclusiveness and acceptance. <br />
