MARCH OF DIMES <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, birth defects afflict the youngest and most de- <br />fenseless members of our society; and, <br />WHEREAS, The National Foundation March of Dimes seeks to <br />prevent birth defects, the nation's major child health problem; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the generosity of millions of Americans have <br />supported this goal; and, <br />WHEREAS, these contributions have made possible a broad <br />spectrum of programs which provide prenatal care, treatment of <br />birth defects, genetic services, and intensive care nurseries <br />for critically ill newborns; and, <br />WHEREAS, a comprehensive research program seeks to uncover <br />the basic causes of birth defects; and <br />WHEREAS, much still needs to be done to help the quarter <br />of a million American infants born each year with physical or <br />mental damage; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN P. WASCHAK, MAYOR OF LOUISVILLE, <br />COLORADO, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM JANUARY 31, 1978 AS MOTHERS MARCH <br />DAY FOR MARCH OF DIMES IN LOUISVILLE, COLORADO. <br />I know the Citizens of Louisville will join me in supporting <br />this cause which will benefit our children and our children's <br />children. <br />YOR OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO <br />January 17, 1978 <br />
