PROCLAMATION <br />PUBLIC WORKS WEEK INs <br />May 22 - 28, 1977 <br />WHEREAS, public works functions such as highways, water supply, <br />refuse collection and disposal, sewage disposal systems, <br />traffic control, public buildings and other facilities <br />and services are vital to our way of life and standard <br />of living; and <br />WHEREAS, these facilities and services are constructed, maintained, <br />operated and administered by units of the federal, state, <br />and local governments; and <br />WHEREAS, these public works functions, so important to the health <br />and well-being of our citizens, are performed by dedicated <br />administrators, engineers and other employees working in <br />the service of the several governments; and <br />WHEREAS, a better understanding by the people of this city of the <br />nature of public works and its value to the community will <br />materially influence the retaining and attracting of quali- <br />fied and dedicated personnel to staff public works depart- <br />ments; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, �o� rL , Mayor of the City of <br />do hereby proclaim the week of May 22 - 28, 1977, as <br />PUBLIC WORKS WEEK IN �g�jt\`T <br />and call upon all citizens and civic organizations to acquaint them- <br />selves with the problems involved in providing the public works faci- <br />lities and services desired by the people; and to recognize the impor- <br />tant role in our safety, health and well-being that is played by all <br />the public works officials and employees of our City, and urge all <br />local public works officials to lend their support to this observance. <br />GIVEN under my hand a%64, <br />Z <br />Seal of the City of <br />this 34-4 day of }-1, A.D. , <br />1977. <br />Mayo <br />
