L <br />Cityof <br />Louisville <br />COLORADO -SINCE 1878 <br />Bike, Walk and Wheel Week Proclamation <br />September 20 - 26, 2021 <br />Whereas, Louisville pedestrians, cyclists, and users of public transit options includes <br />people of many ages, abilities, and experiences; and, <br />Whereas, many Louisville residents have increased their active transportation during <br />the COVID-19 pandemic, including biking and walking, and further education and <br />outreach supports this transition while promoting safety; and, <br />Whereas, alternative forms of transportation such as walking, bicycling, and public <br />transit reduce pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and congestion, improve the health <br />and wellbeing of all people, support economic vitality, and build community <br />cohesiveness and sense of place; and <br />Whereas, Louisville aims to increase mobility options and access for people of all ages, <br />abilities, and income levels as outlined in the Transportation Master Plan; and, <br />Whereas, the City of Louisville is implementing multi -modal and accessibility <br />improvements throughout the City's transportation network to encourage and facilitate <br />safe and comfortable travel and recreation; and, <br />Whereas, the City of Louisville is seeking "Bicycle Friendly Community" designation <br />through further implementation of bicycle education and outreach; and, <br />Whereas, throughout the week of September 20th 2021, the residents of Louisville and <br />its visitors will experience the benefits of bicycling, walking, and public transportation <br />through educational programs, commuting events, challenges, or by simply getting out <br />and going for a ride or walk; and, <br />Now therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the Louisville, Colorado, that the <br />week of September 20 — 26, 2021, is recognized as Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week and <br />urges all residents to recognize the importance of sharing streets and consider leaving <br />the car at home in favor of bicycling, walking, or public transit. <br />DATED this 17th day of August, 2021 <br />ATTEST: <br />SEAL <br />Ashley Stn�ann, Mayor <br />Meredyth Muth, City Clerk <br />
