MONTH OF THE YOUNG CHILD <br /> APRIL 2000 <br /> WHEREAS, Children are our most precious resource and our hope for the future; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Children are dependent upon caring and nurturing adults to help them grow and develop in <br /> positive directions; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Coloradans treasure their children, yet children in this state have been abused and <br /> neglected, as in every other state; and, <br /> WHEREAS, By calling attention to the need for quality childcare, healthcare, education, and protection <br /> for all young children and families throughout our state and community, these groups hope <br /> to improve the quality and availability of such services; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Their safety and security is primarily determined by parents, caregivers, neighbors, <br /> community citizens, teachers, professionals in many fields, politicians, and policy makers <br /> who perform this valuable service; and, <br /> WHEREAS, The work of early childhood professionals is not fully understood and is under- <br /> appreciated; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Exercising special care to provide safety and security for children is necessary for a good <br /> beginning for children's sound growth and development. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that I, Tom Davidson, Mayor of the City of Louisville, <br /> Colorado, along with the City Council, do hereby proclaim April 2000 as The Month of the Young Child <br /> in Louisville, and invite all residents of our community to become aware of the needs of young children <br /> throughout our City and state. <br /> DATED this 4th day of April, 2000 <br /> m Davids , yor <br /> T �EeSi: <br /> Nancy Varra, City Clerk <br />
