OLDER AMERICANS MONTH <br /> WHEREAS, one of the most dramatic changes occurring in our country is the <br /> aging of our population; and, <br /> WHEREAS, 2000 marks the 57th anniversary of senior centers in the country; <br /> and, <br /> WHERAS, 2000 marks the 21st anniversary of Senior Services in Louisville, Colorado; and, <br /> WHEREAS, every segment of our society will be influenced by the needs, <br /> resources and expertise of our older citizens; and, <br /> WHEREAS, senior centers have played a vital roll for the past 57 years as <br /> service delivery and focal points, helping older persons to help <br /> themselves and each other and in offering services or access to <br /> community services as needed; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Louisville Senior Services provides service to older citizens and <br /> their families, affirming the city's commitment to preserve the <br /> dignity, self-worth, and independence of older persons by <br /> facilitating their decisions and actions, tapping their experience, <br /> skills and knowledge, and enabling their continual contributions of <br /> the community; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Louisville Senior Services is enhanced by the active involvement <br /> of the Senior Advisory Board, <br /> WHEREAS, During the month of May special events and recognition are <br /> planned for older people; and, <br /> NOW THEREFORE, I, Tom Davidson, Mayor of the City of Louisville, do hereby proclaim <br /> May 2000. <br /> • <br /> SENIOR CENTER MONTH <br /> in Louisville, Colorado and call for recognizing the importance of strengthening bonds between <br /> all ages and the need for increasing support throughout the community to create a bright vision <br /> of future for all generations. <br /> DATED this 2nd day of May, 2000. <br /> •�sv ‘ '127;01,1-2A"'• <br /> '' Tom Davidson, Mayor <br /> T : / <br /> 0f <br /> Nancy Varr City Clerk <br />
