NATIONAL HOME CARE MONTH <br />NOVEMBER 2000 <br />Whereas, home care is the most preferred method of health care delivery among disabled, <br />elderly, and chronically ill individuals eager to live independently in their own <br />homes; and <br />Whereas, home care in the United States is a growing alternative to hospitalization for acute <br />and chronic illnesses, serving more than 8 million Americans each year; and <br />Whereas, thousands of home care professionals and volunteers in some 20,000 home care <br />agencies across the country daily blend compassionate care and technological <br />advances to ensure the futures and brighten the lives of their patients; and <br />Whereas, these dedicated home care professionals and volunteers form a support network that <br />will continue to play a vital role in health care delivery for the nation's aging <br />population into the next century; and <br />Whereas, Centura Home Care & Hospice, the National Association for Home Care, and home <br />care agencies across the United States have declared the month of November 2000 as <br />National Home Care Month and are calling on all Americans to observe this occasion <br />with appropriate ceremonies and activities; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Tom Davidson, Mayor of the City of Louisville, <br />Colorado, along with the City Council, do hereby proclaim November 2000 as <br />NATIONAL HOME CARE MONTH <br />in the city of Louisville and encourage the support and participation of all citizens in learning more <br />about the home care concept of care for the elderly, disabled, and infirm. <br />DATED this 8`h day of November, 2000 <br />Tom Davidson, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Nancy Varra, City Clerk <br />r <br />LO <br />�Y <br />SEAL <br />co�ORA� <br />
