NATIONAL RECREATION & PARKS MONTH <br />WHEREAS, The City of Louisville has received the Tree <br />City Award from the National Arbor Day <br />Foundation for 20 consecutive years; and <br />WHEREAS, Louisville Parks and Recreation has been <br />nationally recognized for excellence in Parks <br />and Recreation Management through the <br />National Recreation & Parks Association <br />and the Sports Foundation; and <br />WHEREAS, Parks and Open Space enhance community <br />aesthetics and property values within the <br />city; and <br />WHEREAS, There is a strong correlation between parks <br />and recreation programs and crime <br />prevention and Louisville has one of <br />Colorado's lowest crime rates; and <br />WHEREAS, Louisville Parks and Recreation has become <br />a major resource for part-time employment <br />especially to youth; and <br />WHEREAS, Volunteers donate thousands of hours to <br />provide recreation activities in Louisville; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Special events for July include park concerts <br />at Cottonwood park, Senior Tour the <br />Canadian Rockies and Glacier National <br />Park, Family night skate date, Iron Kids <br />Triathlon, Beach Party at the Recreation <br />Center Pool and Teen Night Skate Date, <br />NOW THEREFORE, <br />DATED this 3`d day of July, 2001 <br />Tom Davidson, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Dave Clabots, City Clerk <br />I, Tom Davidson, Mayor of the City of <br />Louisville, do declare July as National <br />Recreation and Parks month in Louisville <br />and encourage all citizens to take advantage <br />of the leisure opportunities offered through <br />the City of Louisville. <br />
