OLDER AMERICANS MONTH PROCLAMATION <br />MAY 2012 <br />WHEREAS, our community is blessed with the wisdom and grace of older individuals; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the older adults in Louisville are the roots from which our community <br />grows, they bestow gifts of wisdom and insight upon younger generations, <br />and strengthen the bonds between neighbors to create a better place to <br />live; and <br />WHEREAS, our society can be enhanced by older adults aging gracefully in their <br />communities; and <br />WHEREAS, while the majority of older adults in Louisville, Colorado are thriving, a <br />smaller, yet sizeable, minority have multiple issues such as poor health, <br />limitations in daily activities and limited inadequate incomes; and <br />WHEREAS, the older adults in Louisville should be commended for their role in <br />creating and bolstering the fiber of our community and nation; and <br />WHEREAS, responding to our aging population will require changes in attitude, <br />cultural expectations and social policies; and <br />WHEREAS, Louisville continues to implement the county -wide "Age Well: Boulder <br />County" initiative at the local level by focusing on the four quadrants: <br />Basic needs, <br />Health and Wellness, <br />Individual and Community Involvement, and <br />Independence and Caregiving. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Mayor Robert Muckle, hereby proclaim May as <br />OLDER AMERICANS MONTH IN LOUISVILLE, COLORADO and call on <br />all citizens to join with us in saluting and acknowledging the contribution <br />of Louisville's diverse, unique and vibrant older population during May <br />and throughout the year. <br />DATED this 1st day of May 2012. <br />ATTEST: <br />�� � L",/� Mt4t, <br />obert P.
