ORDINANCE NO. 1422 SERIES 2003 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND REENACTING <br />CHAPTER 5 OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br />COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT <br /> DESIGN STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 1242, Series 1996, the City previously adopted the Commercial <br />Development Design Standards and Guidelines ("CDDSG") which are incorporated into the City <br />zoning regulations; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City desires to amend the CDDSG to amend the landscape design criteria and <br />to provide for administrative adoption of the City's Recommended Plant Materials List for <br />commercial developments subject to the CDDSG; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Louisville Planning Commission, after notice and hearing, has recommended <br />the City Council adopt the CDDSG amendments set forth in this ordinance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, City Council has provided notice of a public hearing on this ordinance by <br />publication as provided by law and held a public hearing as provided in said notice. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 5 of the Louisville' Commercial Development Design Standards and <br />Guidelines, entitled "Landscape Design," is hereby repealed and reenacted to read as follows <br />(changes are shown as follows: words to be added are underlined; words to be deleted are stricken <br /> <br />Louisville Commercial Development Design Standards and Guidelines - <br /> Chapter 5 - Landscape Design <br /> <br />Goal: <br />Landscaping for commercial areas is provided within each building site to: 1) <br />enhance the aesthetics of commercial developments, 2) create a pedestrian <br />friendly environment, 3) break up the mass of buildings, 4) soften architectural <br />materials, 5) provide screening of service structures, 6) enhance the <br />streetscape/parkway environment, 7) define building and parking area entrances, <br />8) provide shade and climate control, 9) control airborne particulates and 10) <br />provide buffers between incompatible land uses or site areas. Drought tolerant <br />plant species that are native to the region or suitable to this climate should be <br />used. <br /> <br />This chapter addresses 4 distinct zones corresponding to the 4 major design <br />influences on each commercial site: <br /> 1) Perimeter Landscaping Adjacent to Public and Private Roads <br /> <br /> <br />
