Library Board of Trustees Special Meeting Minutes Monday, October 30,2006 Library Board Room, 2nd Floor 951 Spruce Street 7:00 PM 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. 2. Roll Call The following Board members were present: · Jerry Maddock · Alicia Mahoney · Mary Seifert · Eileen Patrick · Lisa Kahn Absent: · Channah Horst Library staff members present: · Anne Mojo · Karen Freiter Others present: · Sheri Marsella, City Council Liaison 3. Business A. Update on Ballot Issue 2A Eileen Patrick reported that nearly the entire City has received hand-delivered flyers in support of the ballot issue. Of 100 yard signs, 90 have been placed. More flyers will be distributed over the weekend before the election and additional letters will be submitted to local newspapers. B. 2007 Budget and Hours of Operation Anne reported that the budget line item for library cards has been eliminated. Overall, the library operations budget is at 2005 levels. In response to a question, Anne noted that if service to Superior is eliminated, costs for some customer-service related items would decrease. Anne noted that the reduction in hours for part-time personnel will directly impact customer service levels at the library, particularly reshelving materials and service at the circulation and children's desks. Alicia inquired about what help the Library Foundation could provide with materials acquisition. Anne outlined Foundation contributions to the Library in 2006, which included materials, funds for programs, aquarium maintenance, used book display cabinet, and the new puppet theater. Sheri noted that passage of the revitalization plan would be a key to the long-term viability of providing high level facilities and services to the citizens of Louisville.
