<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1157 <br />SERIES 1994 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE CITY'S <br />USE TAX, FOR A NINE-YEAR PERIOD, TO THE USE OR <br />CONSUMPTION OF RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION AND BUILDING <br />MATERIALS PURCHASED AT RETAIL, FOR PURPOSES OF FURTHERING <br />THE ACQUISITION, IMPROVEMENT, OR EXPANSION OF EDUCATIONAL <br />FACILITIES OF THE BOULDER VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT RE-2 <br />SERVING THE CITIZENS OF LOUISVILLE AND THEIR SCHOOL-AGE <br />CHILDREN AND FOR PURPOSES OF THE ACQUISITION OF LAND IN <br />AND AROUND THE CITY FOR OPEN SPACE BUFFER ZONES, TRAILS, <br />WILDLIFE HABITATS, WETLANDS PRESERVATION AND FUTURE <br />PARKS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION OF THE ORDINANCE <br />TO A VOTE OF THE REGISTERED ELECTORS AT A SPECIAL <br />ELECTION CALLED FOR NOVEMBER 8, 1994 <br /> <br />Section 1. The following ordinance of the City of <br />Louisville, Colorado, is hereby adopted to read: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville has no high school within its <br />boundaries, and the high school-age students of its citizens must <br />attend Centaurus High School in Lafayette, Colorado; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Centaurus High School is overcrowded, and growth in <br />the area has created impacts on the educational facilities of the <br />Boulder Valley School District RE-2 serving the citizens of <br />Louisville and their school-age children; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the School District has <br />determined that, in order to promote and protect the public health, <br />safety, and welfare, and accommodate the needs created by new <br />development, the School District must expand its educational <br />facilities, including facilities serving the citizens of Louisville <br />and their school-age children, in order to maintain current and <br />acceptable levels of educational service to its students; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an April, 1993 Report of the Capital Needs Committee <br />submitted to the Board of Education of the School District found <br />that: "The economic vitality of communities within Boulder Valley <br />and the quality of life enjoyed by District residents is directly <br />dependent upon quality educational programs for students"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the acquisition, improvement, or expansion of the <br />School District's educational facilities serving the citizens of <br />Louisville and their school-age children will benefit said citizens <br />and promote the public health, safety, welfare and economic well- <br />being of said citizens; and <br /> <br />1 <br />
