La c,Community Up•
February-March 2006
City of Louisville
A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR:
City Council How Do WE DEFINE OUR COMMUNITY?
Mayor Charles L. Sisk
303.665.6889 11 en questions arise as to defining the composition of a community,
siskc @ci.louisville.co.us Louisville has many demonstrative points. One defining example was
the effort undertaken by the Louisville Senior Foundation to raise funds for energy
Ward I assistance. The goal was to reach $10,000 to provide
Dave Clabots our less fortunate citizens with supplemental monies
303.673.9116 to allow basic needs to be provided. It appears very
clabotd@ci.louisville.co.us promising that the goal will be achieved and perhaps
even exceeded.
Bob Muckle The effort will culminate with the Heat Relief
303.981.0697 Spaghetti Dinner at the Louisville Recreation/Senior
muckler @ci.louisville.co.us Center on February 16. All proceeds from the dinner
Ward II will be donated for energy assistance. This dinner is
being provided through the generosity of the Blue Parrot Restaurant, which, as in
Sheri Marsella the past years, has graciously agreed to give all of the proceeds from the dinner to
303.665.3276 those in need.
marsels @ci.louisville.co.us The Blue Parrot Restaurant is one example of businesses and individuals in
Frost Yarnell Louisville willing to step forward to insure our community is responsive to our
303.229.4215 citizens. The good people involved with the Louisville Senior Foundation have
yarnelf @ci.louisville.co.us contributed countless hours to insure the success of this worthy effort. In addition,
the response from our community members has been a resounding"yes, you can
Ward III count on me." Residents have once again shown their benevolence and commit-
Don Brown ment to help those in need.
303.673.0648 Another example of our responsiveness and commitment to the community
brownd @ci.louisville.co.us occurred in January when seventy of our residents took the time to respond to the
City Council's "call for volunteers" and applied for our various board and commis-
Ron Sackett sion vacancies. While we were not able to appoint all the residents who applied, we
720.890.8970 will continue to have openings in the future and ask for continued involvement.
sacketr @ci.louisville.co.us When interviewing applicants each year, I am constantly amazed at the reser-
City Manager Bill Simmons voir of talent and energy that synergizes Louisville. Thank you for your interest
303.335.4532 and commitment of time that benefits us all.
simmonw @ci.louisville.co.us We look forward to the opening of our new community park and I encourage
all of our citizens to walk, drive, or bicycle to this new jewel in our community.
City Council Meetings are With maturation, it will be even more breathtaking and an impressive reflection of
held the first and third Louisville for years to come.We will integrate the new park with historic Memory
Tuesdays of each month at Square Park, which has its own new playground improvements.
7:00 PM at City Hall, I would suggest that these examples help define the community of Louisville
749 Main Street. and I am proud to be the Mayor for many reasons.
