Community Up
June-July 2006
City of Louisville
A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR:
City Council
CELEBRATE COMMUNITY
Mayor Charles L. Sisk
65.6
303.665.6889 As the end of the school year approaches, I am reminded of the importance and
siskc30 . ille.co.us pride that all of us exude in our public and private school system. I was privi-
leged to be asked to attend an event whereby Coal Creek Elementary School received
Ward I the John Irwin Award as one of the outstanding schools
Dave Clabots in Colorado. To the students, parents, teachers, staff, and
administration at Coal Creek, a hearty congratulations and
303.673.9116 continued success in your educational endeavors.
clabotd@ci.louisville.co.us Some of you may ask why I started this message with
Bob Muckle the Coal Creek story and not the story which occupied
303.981.0697 national attention. The answer is very specific and pertains
muckier @ci.louisville.co.us to the strength of our educational system and the enor-
mous parental involvement we see in our schools. All of
Ward II the above contributed to Louisville being recognized as the best city in the entire United
Sheri Marsella States by the Frommer's publication entitled Best Places to Raise Your Family: The Top
303.665.3276 100 Affordable Communities in the U. S. The publication was the result of copious ef-
forts to discern various cities' pros and cons. After this enormous accumulation of data,
marsels @ci.louisville.co.us Louisville, Colorado ranked number one. What an honor for our community and our
Frost Yarnell citizens!!!
303.229.4215 In the ranking, the authors noted the intrinsic nature of our community and most
yarnelf @ci.louisville.co.us significantly noted the pride our citizens exhibit for Louisville coupled with a broad
spectrum of life style, health and safety, and education to name a few. The allure of our
Ward III downtown continues to be the item of which we hear most often. We all clearly cherish
Don Brown and respect our historical past.
303.673.0648 We continue to make investments in our downtown area and the article suggested
brownd @ci.louisville.co.us the addition of commuter rail as one of benefits in the foreseeable future. We are in the
midst of planning for the revitalization of the area to the east of and adjacent to our
Ron Sackett present downtown. We understand that we must develop it consistent with our present
720.890.8970 downtown and insure that the changes reflect our community vision. To implement
sacketr @ci.louisville.co.us and insure that process, the Louisville Revitalization Commission has held a number of
public meetings to gather community input. This input will eventually lead to a discus-
City Manager Bill Simmons sion by the Louisville City Council of an Urban Redevelopment Area that will benefit
303.335.4532 not only the property owners, but entire City.
simmonw @ci.louisville.co.us This is a very exciting time for Louisville and, in my estimation; changes such as
City Council Meetings are these will allow Louisville to retain its designation as a great place to live from publica-
held the first and third tions such as Frommer's and Money magazine. But what is truly important is the ac-
Tuesdays of each month at ceptance of our citizens and to that end, the City Council will continue to listen to our
7.'00 PM at City Hall, residents and understand what is important and how we keep the pinnacle that we have
749 Main Street. achieved to date.
As I have stated many times, I am so proud to be your Mayor and thank you for the
To find out in which opportunity to represent you and this wonderful community. Have a safe summer and
Ward you live, please I look forward to seeing all of you Friday nights at the Steinbaugh Pavilion and in the
call Meredyth Muth at new Community Park for our July 4th celebration.
303.335.4536 City of Louisville - www.ci.louisville.co.us
