Summer 2013
ig Eviiie Communi U pd ate
A Message from the Mayor
Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another.
City Council -G.K. Chesterton
Mayor Robert P. Muckle here a many reasons that Louisville is a great place to live.We enjoy the benefits of
303.981.0697 a vibrant historic downtown, many acres of open space and miles of trails. We are
bobm @louisvilleco.gov fortunately located close to the mountains and yet within a major metropolitan area.We
have lots of wonderful and unique neighborhoods.
• Ward I Chief amongst the benefits of living here though, is that we are blessed with great
schools. My family and I moved to Louisville primarily because of the schools and then
Emily Jasiak discovered all the other advantages of living in Louisville. Both of my daughters attended
303.550.6070 Louisville Elementary, Louisville Middle School, and Monarch High School. Many people
emilyj @louisvilleco.gov
have said education is the most important element of maintaining a civil society. The back-
Jay Keany bone of education, of course, is dedicated teachers and staff. As the school year begins, I
303.665.4818 want to thank the teachers and staffs of all of our schools: Fireside Elementary, Coal Creek
jayk @louisvilleco.gov Elementary, Louisville Elementary, Monarch K-8, Louisville Middle School and Monarch
High School.Thank you for your hard work in teaching our children to be good learners
• Ward II
and good citizens.
Susan Loo Along with education, another fundamental aspect of our society is the opportunity
303.665.4945 to elect the people who represent us in government. 2013 is a municipal election year and
susanl @louisvilleco.gov there will be candidates running for City Council election or re-election in Wards 1, 2
and 3. I encourage all our residents to take time to learn about the candidates.Make the
Frost Yarnell effort to meet them and talk with them in person. This is easy to do and is one of the great
303.673.0896 things about local government. Then, most importantly, be sure and take the time to vote
frosty@louisvilleco.gov on or before election day November 5.
• Ward III Finally, on this note, I want to take a moment to thank two of my colleagues on the
City Council who are term limited and will be completing their time in office in Novem-
Hank Dalton ber. Ron Sackett and Frost Yarnell have both served for eight years and devoted countless
303.926.9930 hours to the service of our community. They have brought wisdom and careful consid-
hankd@louisvilleco.gov eration to the many decisions we have made during these years and Louisville is a better
place for their service. Please make an effort to thank them yourself by e-mail or when you
Ron Sackett see them around town. -Bob
720.890.8970
rons @louisvilleco.gov Comcast Franchise Renewal
City Manager The City is beginning its franchise renewal process with Comcast Cable. As a part of
Malcolm Fleming that process we would like to know what you think about the service you receive from
303.335.4532 Comcast Cable.
