Warm weather means lots of good things
in Louisville--eating outside on downtown patios, spending more time on our open space
trails, summer sports leagues starting, and this spring we will see the reopening of the Coal
Creek Golf Course. The course, which was devastated by the floods of September 2013,
has undergone major repair and reconstruction, and depending on the weather and grass
growth should open in June. I feel I should add “Lord willing and the creek don't rise”
(again)!
The new and improved course will again serve the Men's, Women's and Stroker's
leagues as well as the many individual golfers – and the Monarch High School Golf teams
will be able to return to their home course. The non-golfers in Louisville can look forward
to July 4th fireworks on the driving range this year, trying our new, first-in-the-state Hi-
malayan putting green (fun for the whole family), and having a snack or a meal at the new
restaurant opening in the clubhouse. Discussions are underway regarding other uses of the
course, including Frisbee Golf evenings, beginner golfer events and bird watching tours
along Coal Creek.
A Message from the Mayor
Continued on page 2
Construction Schedules and Impacts
With the warmer weather comes the construction
season. 2015 will have many projects that are very
visible and will impact travel. We would like to thank everyone
for your patience and understanding during the construction
season and remind everyone to exercise caution when driving,
biking, or walking through a construction zone.
Xcel Gas Line Replacement - Beginning in early March, Xcel Energy will be replacing
its gas main adjacent to Highway 42 and then south on 96th Street. Xcel expects the work
to be complete this summer, weather permitting. Travel within the construction zone on
Highway 42 will be impacted, including limited turning options at many intersections. A
detailed map of the area and the impacts is available on the City's web site under construc-
tion updates. For additional information, please contact Xcel Energy at 1-855-875-7633.
Downtown Construction - Multiple projects are scheduled for downtown this year, a
project map is available on the city’s web site. Projects that will have the most impact on
residents and businesses are highlighted below.
Resurfacing of Main Street – This project will resurface Main Street from Pine Street to
South Street. Public Works anticipates completing the resurfacing portion of the work
prior to the beginning of Downtown summer activities and will then complete the
brick adjustments in the fall.
Sewer Replacement - This project includes the replacement of the sewer line in the alley
between Lafarge Avenue and Main Street from Pine Street to Walnut Street. This work
should be complete by the beginning of May. The remainder of the project includes
Continued on page 3
