ILA Cityqf CommunityUpdate
uville
A Message from the Mayor
City Council
A great city is that which has the greatest men and women.
Mayor Robert P. Muckle
303.981.0697 -Walt Whitman
bobm@louisvilleco.gov
attended the first meeting of our new Business Retention and Develop-
• Ward I ment Committee this morning which again reminded me of what a talented
group of residents live in Louisville. What makes Louisville such a great place
Jay Keany to live is an ineffable quality -- sure it has to do with open space and trails, the
303.665.4818 historic downtown, great community events and great schools -- but I think it
jayk@louisvilleco.gov really comes down to the people who live here. People who have such a strong
community spirit, give of their time and talent, help less fortunate members of
Chris Leh the community and join in all the activities the City has to offer. And there is a
303.668.3916 lot to offer. The downtown patios are out, the Taste of Lousville is on June 3rd,
leh@louisvilleco.gov the Street Faire opens on June 9th with Roomful of Blues, then there are Con-
certs in the Park, the 4th of July festivities, and lots more. I hope to see you all
• Ward H at an event or several. Also don't forget, you can join me to chat at the mu-
seum or on an open space walk, on Saturday mornings at 9-10 am on alternate
Susan Loo months. Check the City calendar for the schedule.
303.665.4945 You've no doubt heard by now that our City Manager Malcolm Fleming will
susanl@louisvilleco.gov be moving on to new opportunties. In April Malcolm and the City Council mutu-
ally agreed to part ways after Malcolm's 10 years of service to the community.
303.665.9776 He will work until the middle of July to help us transition with all the things we
lipton@louisvilleco.gov have underway in town. We have already started the water and sewer line
replacement and concrete work scheduled for this summer. Soon we will begin
• Ward III street repaving and reconstruction as part or our aggressive plan of street main-
tenance we began a few years ago. We are in the final design phase of the
Dennis Maloney new Recreation/Senior Center improvements and upgrades at Memory Square
303.494.9257 Pool. We are working on completing the new South Street Gateway, so you'll be
dennism@louisvilleco.gov able to park in our new lot east of the tracks and walk through the underpass to
downtown. We are designing an underpass beneath 95th Street between North
Ashley Stolzmann End and Steele Ranch to build next year, and beginning design of an underpass
303.570.9614 in Steele Ranch under the railroad tracks which will complete the "Lake to Lake"
ashleys@louisvilleco.gov trail from Waneka Lake to Harper Lake. All of this is a huge amount of work for
City staff, and I appreciate Malcolm staying to keep things on track. When he
City Manager leaves, Deputy City Manager Heather Balser will assume his duties and we know
Malcolm Fleming she will provide a steady hand as Interim City Manager. The City Council will
303.335.4532 discuss the process of hiring a new City Manager in the coming weeks.
malcolmf@louisvilleco.gov I want to personally thank Malcolm for all the things he has done for the City
over these 10 years. I have appreciated his calm and thoughtful demeanor. It's
City Council Meetings are been an honor for me to have had the chance to work with him on behalf of the
held the first and third City. He has overseen many large projects -- our new City Services facility, the
Tuesdays of each month at McCaslin underpass, the acquisition of the addition to Cottonwood Park, and the
7:00 PM at City Hall, redevelopment of the empty Safeway into the new Alfalfas center -- to name
749 Main Street. but a few. But he also improved our long term economic forecasting which has
To find out in which improved our budgeting process and has hired a very talented staff of great
Ward you live, please call men and women who work hard everyday to make Lousville such a great town
303.335.4536. for all of us. I wish him fair winds and following seas wherever life takes him
next.
www.LouisvilleCO.gov
- Bob
