Recorded as received. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9 <br />SERIES 2018 <br />A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE BLUE PARROT SIGN CURRENTLY LOCATED AT <br />640 MAIN STREET A HISTORIC LANDMARK <br />WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the City Council an application requesting <br />a landmark eligibility determination for the Blue Parrot sign currently located at 640 Main <br />Street; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Staff and the Histonc Preservation Commission have reviewed <br />the application and found it to be in compliance with Chapter 15 36 of the Louisville <br />Municipal Code establishing criteria for landmark designation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville Historic Preservation Commission held a properly noticed <br />public hearing on the proposed landmark application and has forwarded to the City Council a <br />recommendation of approval; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has duly considered the proposed landmark application <br />and the Commission's recommendation and report, and has held a properly noticed public <br />hearing on the application; and <br />WHEREAS, the Blue Parrot sign has social significance because it exemplifies the <br />cultural and social heritage of Louisville's Italian community, and the popular Blue Parrot <br />restaurant; and <br />WHEREAS, the Blue Parrot has architectural significance because it is <br />representative of neon signs popular in the 1950s, and it represents the Colacci family and <br />the Blue Parrot restaurant which operated in that location for 98 years; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that these and other characteristics specific to the <br />Blue Parrot sign have social and architectural significance as described in Section <br />15.36.050 A of the Louisville Municipal Code and justify the approval of the historic <br />landmark application; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />The application to landmark the Blue Parrot Sign be approved for the following <br />reasons. <br />1. Architectural integrity of the overall form and neon tube lettering. <br />2. Association with the Blue Parrot Restaurant <br />Resolution No 9, Series 2018 <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />
