z. a <br />~~`' <br />i~ ~~ r <br />~:~= <br />Horticulture & Forestry <br />Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Thursday, Nov 6, 2008 <br />Library Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br />7:00 PM <br />Call to Order -Chairperson Mike Frontczak called the meeting to order at 7:08 <br />pm. <br />Roll Call was taken and the following members were present: <br />Board Members Present: Mike Frontczak, Theresa Rounds, Matt Tepe, <br />Ellen Toon <br />Staff Members Present: Chris Lichty, Dean Johnson, Joe Stevens <br />City Council Member Present: Dave Clabots <br />Guest: Vickie Marra, applicant to HFAB <br />Approval of Agenda -The agenda was approved by all members. <br />Approval of Meeting Minutes -The minutes from the Oct. 2, 2008 meeting <br />were approved as written. <br />Public Comments -Theresa reported that a resident had expressed concern to <br />her about an incident he observed in the open space: A City code enforcement <br />officer drove across recently revegetated soil in order to issue adog-at-large <br />ticket, in the process damaging the planted area, as well as possibly endangering <br />children playing nearby. The board agreed to recommend that City employees <br />should avoid driving through open space except in the case of an emergency. <br />Chris will draft a memo and request that Joe discuss the issue with the Police <br />Dept. <br />Tree Preservation -- Discussion of Boulder and Denver policies (handout <br />provided by Chris.) Chris prefers the wording of the Denver ordinance regarding <br />preservation of trees during demolition or new construction. <br />Issues mentioned during the discussion included: monitoring construction to <br />prevent soil compaction around mature trees; builders being required to submit a <br />City of Louisville <br />Parks & Recreation Department 749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027 <br />303.335.4735 (phone) 303.335.4738 (fax) www_ci_louisville_co_us <br />
