Let me again publicly thanl:
Bill for his r«%elve (12} years of stellar leadership in Louisville.
The Cin' Council named Heather Balser as interim City ~\lanager and inunedi-
ately thereafter, she was greeted with historic sno`v storms. ~Iot only did Hcathcr
exhihit her leadership during the storms, but she has dealt with Inane issues in a very
forthright and balanced planner. l~or those of us that have known Hcathcr during
her ten (10) years ~~%ith the City of Louisville, her assumption as the Interim City
~'~lanager has been very gratifv~ing and verv impressive as she has accomplished a great
deal and has been ~~%illing to make tough decisions and implement manv of Council's
goals. deedless to sae, with Heather, «%e have not been treading water, quite to the
contrarylr~
We hope to choose a new City ~-lanager in June. The candidates have been out-
standing and certainly will make it a difficult choice For meself and the City Council.
We ~~%ill have an open house ti.) enable our citizens to meet the applicants in informal
forum, tentatively set for the evening of June 7. The next dae nc~ Cin~ Council will
publically interview the candidates. The final decision rests «%idl nc~ ~\layor and City
Council pursuant to the Home Kule Charter.
~K~hile some of eon nlav not deem this exciting, the economic picture for our City
continues to progress and we arc instituting a number of visits to our businesses to
111sUre a pat-Cllel"ship berwCen LOLllsV111C alld Chi' busllleSS COI11I11L1111rV. If
a choice exists between spending eour hard earned dollars in Louisville or else«%here,
please give our local merchants the first opportunity. It pays dividends mane fold,
especially when we understand the multiplier effect of money spent in Louisville as
we create additional jabs for more employees to work in our local stares. The ancil-
lary benefit and a very profound one is the retail sales tax dollars that arc then avail-
able to liuld our Cin% services, including the librarv, senior services, and recreation
programs, just to Hanle three important areas as examples.
Our community has many virtues and qualities, but in the end, the citizens arc
our most valuable resource. `Thank you for allowing plc to be your ~Vlavor and let's
have a wonderful summer with our fanlile and friends and even make new friends
this vear.
C1 t~ Of LOZl1 S71111C - ZUZUZU.
