Lcity�f <br />Louisville <br />COLORADO -SINCE 1878 <br />LOUISVILLE HISTORY MONTH PROCLAMATION <br />SEPTEMBER 2021 <br />Whereas, The Louisville Historical Museum (the "Museum") opened its doors on Labor Day <br />weekend, the month of September, in 1986; and <br />Whereas, September 2021 marks the 351h anniversary of the Museum's opening to the public at <br />its historical campus on Main Street, preserving historic photos and other artifacts, conducting <br />research, sharing information through educational programs for all ages, uncovering new <br />perspectives, supporting City initiatives with relevant information, and enriching the lives of all <br />residents; and <br />Whereas, the Museum's mission calls upon all Louisville residents to "be a part of the story" of <br />Louisville; and <br />Whereas, the City of Louisville recognizes its Museum as being an crucial cultural asset that <br />promotes community engagement and contributes to a strong sense of place; and <br />Whereas, history is an important avenue for understanding a community over time and for <br />making Louisville a more inclusive and equitable place; and <br />Whereas, the City of Louisville wishes to foster a community that values education through <br />history and historical analysis, and awareness of Louisville's complex history can always be <br />increased in the community and can inform situations in the present; and <br />Whereas, an annual, month -long celebration would provide an opportunity for the Museum to <br />feature and promote new Louisville history research and highlight new offerings, and encourage <br />residents of all ages to participate in learning about their community's history; and <br />Whereas, in requesting that the City Council proclaim the month of September as Louisville <br />History Month, the Museum has the support and approval of both the Louisville Historical <br />Commission and the Museum's supporting 501 c3, the Louisville History Foundation; <br />Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of Louisville, Colorado, that September <br />2021 and every month of September is recognized as Louisville History Month and that all <br />residents of Louisville are urged to be a part of the Louisville story by increasing their <br />understanding of Louisville's complex and rich history. <br />DATED this 71h day of September, 2021 <br />ATTEST: <br />Ashley lzmann, Mayor <br />Meredyth Muth, City Clerk <br />
