~-"

VERBATIM TRANSCRIPT

COUNCIL COMMENTS

CITY COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 6, 1982
NEODATA

Councilman Leary I guess one of my concerns, or a major
one is that the site is surrounded by residential on all
sides and this is a considerably large change from what
B. S. C. S. was planning, and I v;ronder if we can work some
way out to be sure that you would work with those neighbors.
I understand that there are some that are already concerned,
and I'm sure a lot of those things could be minimized if there
is some communication going on.

Ken Taniguchi The closest residential people, as you
are well aware, are Continental View Estates. What we pur-
posedly did was to try to orient the building with the exist-
ing building, which is at an angle so that there is no - we
are approximately 80' away from the property line. l~at we
tried to do - the closest point away from any housing. I
blocked out the existing buildings that are currently built,
closest to the adjacent property line and the distances there
are approximately ISO' to 175' from that point. The actual
structure itself goes away from any buildings in Centennial
View Estates. By doing a lot of earth berming and landscaping
we feel we can minimize the structural impact.

Councilman Leary Another issue, the parking appears for 180
autos - you designed parking for something like 300 autos and
I think the figure said 36% of the land is paved. In terms
of the neighborhood areas, I think that would be something that
would be maybe a little more obtrusive than the building - having
such a huge paved area.

Ken Taniguchi I feel that we can minimize much of the
parking area with the landscaping, and eliminate any sea of
asphalt type of condition.

Councilman Leary How come you have so many parking spaces
planned given the emphasis you want to place on carpooling,
vanpooling and this type of thing.

Ken Taniguchi I would rather have people on site, park,
have accessibility to parking than to have them park on the
landscaped areas, if the need ever arises. We are proposing
to you a maximum condition. I would rather have a maximum
proposed to you, than come back later and one of the members
