One of the recommendations
made was that they pursue the phasing out of
the existing operation as an alternative
and what impact that would be. The Dept.
of Energy was asked to make a long term
utilization study stating what impact
it would have on nearby communities,
to address safety and risk questions,
what social and economic impacts there
might be if the Rocky Flats facility were
moved, and what the costs of these various
alternatives are. When DOE agreed to make
the study there was a question if DOE was
doing a study of itself would they come up with
a credible objective study. Because of
this concern the Blue Ribbon Citizens Com-
mittee vms created. (Each member of council
and staff were presented with a brochure
stating the names of persons on the Committee).
