REGULAR MEETING LOUISVILLE CITY COUNCIL MAY 19, 1981 Mayor Caranci called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. with the following Council members present: Fauson, Cummings, DelPizzo, Meier and Domenico. Also present were City Administrator Wurl, City Attorney Joss, City Treasurer Hesson, Director of Community Development Rupp, Police Chief Leesman, Director of Community Services Hioco, City Engineer Blanchard, Chief Accountant Caranci, Planner Randall, and Acting City Clerk Mudrock. Councilman Heier moved that the items en- closed be accepted and brought up under the proper head of business. Seconded by Councilman Domenico. Question called for. All in favor. Motion carried. Mayor Caranci requested that all stand as Acting City Clerk Mudrock and appointee GeQrge Brown read the oath of office. Explained to Council that Governor Lamm's Blue Ribbon Committee and the Dept. of Energy's long range utilization study which is going on at the Rocky Flats facility was orginally instituted in 1979 by Governor Lamm and Congressman Tim Wirth, because of concerns of citizens in the vicinity. Initially a Lamm-Wirth Task Force was ap- pointed and made recommendations to the Governor, Congressman Wirth and the State of Colorado. One of the recommendations made was that they pursue the phasing out of the existing operation as an alternative and what impact that would be. The Dept. of Energy was asked to make a long term utilization study stating what impact it would have on nearby communities, to address safety and risk questions, what social and economic impacts there might be if the Rocky Flats facility were moved, and what the costs of these various alternatives are. When DOE agreed to make the study there was a question if DOE was doing a study of itself would they come up with a credible objective study. Because of this concern the Blue Ribbon Citizens Com- mittee vms created. (Each member of council and staff were presented with a brochure stating the names of persons on the Committee).
