MARCH OF DIMES <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, birth defects afflict the youngest and most defenseless <br />members of our society; and <br />WHEREAS, The National Foundation -March of Dimes seeks to prevent <br />birth defects, the nations major child health problem; and <br />WHEREAS, the generosity of millions of Americans has supported <br />this goal; and <br />WHEREAS, these contributions have made possible a broad spectrum <br />of programs which provide prenatal care, treatment of birth <br />defects, genetic services, and intensive care nurseries for <br />critically ill newborns; and <br />WHEREAS, a comprehensive research program seeks to uncover the <br />basic causes of birth defects; and <br />WHEREAS, much still needs to be done to help the quarter of a <br />million American infants born each year with physical or mental <br />damage; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I JOHN WASCHAK, MAYOR of LOUISVILLE, do hereby <br />proclaim January, 197�, as MARCH OF DIMES MONTH and January 28, <br />197$ as MOTHERS MARCH NIGHT IN LOUISVILLE. I know the citizens <br />of Louisville will Soin me in supporting this cause which <br />will benefit our children and our children's children. <br />MAY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO <br />
