Per City Council Minutes this item was read by Mayor <br />Fauson during the October 2, 1990 City Council Meeting. <br />SQUARE DANCE MONTH <br />September 1990 <br />WHEREAS, at one time, Square Dance was designated by Congress as <br />the national folk dance of the United States of America; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Square Dance advocates hope to soon win its permanent <br />designation as the national folk dance; and <br />WHEREAS, Square Dance renews the pioneer spirit of cooperation <br />and community; and <br />WHEREAS, The residents of Louisville cherish the place of the <br />Square Dance in the lives of the pioneers and wish to <br />preserve it as an important part of our cultural herit- <br />age; <br />THEREFORE, I, Mayor Herman Fauson, proclaim September 1990 as <br />SQUARE DANCE MONTH <br />
