Whereas National Children's Book Week has <br />been celebrated annually since 1919, and <br />Whereas Children's Book Week celebrations have <br />contributed greatly to the improvement of <br />books for children, and <br />Whereas establishing a lifelong habit of reading is <br />important for our children's well-being, and <br />Whereas in the belief that children will spend more <br />time reading if they spend less time viewing <br />television, the Louisville Public Library has <br />chosen for its 1990 Book Week theme, "Take the <br />TV Diet Pledge". <br />Therefore I, Herman Fauson, Mayor of the City of <br />Louisville, join in the celebration by <br />declaring November 12 - 18, 1990 Children's <br />Book Week in Louisville. <br />
