International Building Safety Week <br />April 8-14, 2001 <br />WHEREAS, the safety of the buildings we occupy daily is essential to the health, safety, and welfare of <br />the citizens of the world; and, <br />WHEREAS, among the world's most fundamental laws are those which provide safety standards for <br />the construction of buildings in which people live, work, and play; and, <br />WHEREAS, for construction and building codes to be effective and enforced, understanding and <br />cooperation must exist between code officials and the people they serve; and, <br />WHEREAS, through the efforts of code officials worldwide and their cooperative relationship with the <br />construction industry, the administration of these health and life -safety standards is <br />assured; and <br />WHEREAS, units of government across the world — along with such prestigious organizations as <br />Building Officials & Code Administrators (BOCA) International, Inc., International <br />Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), Southern Building Code Congress International <br />'(SBCCI), Inc., the Council of American Building Officials (CABO), the National <br />Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards (NCSBCS), and the World <br />Organization of Building Officials (WOBO) — are joining to promote the use of building <br />and construction codes today, for a lifetime of building safety, through the observation of <br />International Building Safety Week; and, <br />WHEREAS, the theme of International Building Safety Week 2001 has been established as "Building <br />Our World... One Community at a Time. " <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Tom Davidson, Mayor of the City of Louisville, <br />Colorado, hereby declare the week of April 8-14, 2001, as International Building Safety Week and urge <br />all citizens to participate in International Building Safety Week activities to help promote building safety, <br />to create awareness as to the importance of construction and building codes, and to spotlight the role of <br />the dedicated code official in administering these codes. <br />DATED this Yd day of April, 2001 <br />Tom Davidson, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />BEAL <br />LOQ NN <br />Nancy Varral City Clerk <br />
