COUNCIL MEE'rING August 15, 197? Streets - No report., Annlica tions for City Adrninis tra tor to be reviewed - Friday, August 18, 1972 Guy Akins repres roting Akins and Associa tes asked Council if they would like their services regarding a written proposal as to t.l-te goals and objectives required of a city administrator, managementi duties, association with council, etc. Motion by Maxwell seconded by King tha 1~ 3 Councilmen meet with Mr. Akins, August 22, 1972 at 7:30 p.m. for discussion. Committee: Virg Ibnovan, Chairman, Jensen and King. Mr. Rick Elliott, Karla-Kalaine Farms, Inc. and Massey - Ferguson dealer, came be- for c01.fficil and stated he had purchased approximately 2 acres of land from ThoIn..'3.s brother, formerly old mill site on County Road. Intends to carry on farm-coop, meat, food and milk dist~ribution business. Corporation consists of members 0 f the Elliott family" Will need building permits for further buildings, electrical and plumbing, and will comply with all city codes. Deborski asked about meat processing - Mr. Elliott stated there will be no slaughter and meat will be sold as sides of beef, pork, etc. Jensen questioned dust pollutiion when milling grain. Elliott assured COlillcil this would be done in sealed containers and pollution would be minnimal. Maxwel1 asked about plot plan - Elliott will make it available as soon as engineer has comnleted same and submi'~ it to Council. Mayor inquired if the firm would be emnloying anyone from Louisville. Stated he had 17 employees ar;d anticipated hiring 12 others possibly from Louisville. He is in need of skilled grain operators, skilled meat cutters and truck drivers. PlaT1s t,O be in business in 90 days. After some discussion council agreed that as soon as plot plan is submitted and city codes met, they would pass on same. Motion by King, seconded by :Maxwell that Jensen be appointed to review and apnt'Ove all applications for building permits. Motion carried unanimously 0 Morris Miller of Oblinger-Smith Corp. presented counci.1 with detailed information requesting government grant assis tance, and reviewed and explained same thoroughly. Motion by Jensen, seconded by King that application for local plarming grant be accept,~d and mayor authorized to sign same. Motion carried.
