Staff recommended approval of the First Amendment to <br />CM/GC Contract with Pinkard Construction Company, setting a Guaranteed <br />Maximum Price of $909,311, plus an additional cost for labor and material bonds. <br />This amount includes a 5% construction contingency, which must be authorized <br />by an approved change order from the City of Louisville prior to being spent. <br />Architect Greg McMenamin presented an overview of the City Hall remodel. <br />City Attorney Light reviewed the changes to the revised first amendment to <br />construction management/general contractor agreement. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown requested public comment. There were not comments. <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br />Council member Sackett asked for clarification on the funds budgeted for the <br />project. Deputy City Manager Boyd stated this project was budgeted in the 2006 <br />budget, and would not impact the 2006 capital projects budget. City Manager <br />Simmons explained the City of Louisville budgets for each particular fund and <br />funds for other projects will not be used for the remodel. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown agreed City facilities have to be repaired and modernized <br />to be more energy efficient. He stressed the importance of providing a safe and <br />comfortable environment for the employees and the public. <br />MOTION: Council member Marsella moved to approve the revised First <br />Amendment to CMGC Contract with Pinkard Construction Company, setting a <br />Guaranteed Maximum Price of $909,311, plus an additional cost for labor and <br />material bonds. Council member Yarnell seconded the motion. Roll call vote <br />was taken. The motion passed by a vote of 6-0. Absent: Mayor Sisko <br />LIBRARY UPDATE <br />Deputy City Manager Boyd reported the new library will officially open to the <br />public on August 7. The parking garage will be open for all day parking. There <br />have been delays in shelving deliveries and in the installation of computers. <br />Construction in the alley between Walnut and Spruce Street is complete, and the <br />alley will be repaved shortly. The dedication ceremony is Saturday, August 19. <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br />City Attorney Light reported on a ruling from Boulder County District Judge Bailin, <br />who awarded attorney fees to Capitol Resources Publishing Attorney. If the City <br />Council wishes to contest the ruling, a hearing would be required. <br />
