City Council
Meeting Minutes
October 17,2006
City Manager Simmons stated the ordinance that was tabled addressed
recreational vehicles, boats and boat trailers. There is an inoperable vehicle
ordinance on the books and if the citizens had questions on enforcement of such,
they could contact himself or Chief Goodman.
Mayor Sisk spoke to the issue of the use of the water bills for mailings and plans
to review with staff.
City Manager Simmons and City Attorney Light addressed the issue of the Open
Space Advisory Committee doing field trips and the open meetings law. Light
stated perhaps there was a procedure where a site inspection could occur
without any decisions or discussions being made about public policy. Attorney
Light will prepare a memo to address this issue.
Mayor Sisk reported a meeting is being held next week with Colorado
Department of Transportation and R.TD on transportation issues concerning
US 36/McCaslin Blvd. He asked Council members to attend if they were able as
he senses delays in the corridor improvements.
REGULAR BUSINESS
UPDATE - LOUISVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL, ADAM FELS PRINCIPAL
Mayor Sisk requested a presentation.
Adam Fels, Principal of Louisville Middle School provided City Council with an
update on current enrollment; student achievements; programming updates and
parent education. He expressed appreciation to Council member Brown and
members of staff for helping to add YMCA programs at no additional cost to
students. Fels commended the Police Department for their presence and
support on a regular basis and especially during the recent tragic school
incidents across the nation. He thanked the Council for their support of the local
schools.
COUNCIL COMMENT
Council member Marsella asked about the improvements to the middle school
should 3A pass. Fels stated they are looking to rebuild the auditorium and
library. He also would like to maintain the school's fagade.
Council member Muckle thanked Mr. Fels for his leadership at the school and
asked about creating close connections to each student. Mr. Fels reported they
do have a program in place to build relationships with the students.
